Gore - 3/17/2012

Hmmm....
Don't let this picture fool you, St. Paddy's Day, 2012 at Gore turned out to be an epic day for classic Spring Skiing!  When Jaime, Emma and I arrived at the base lodge, this was the scene....overcast skies, 45 degrees and the lower mountain runs were showing the effects of a weeks worth of 50+ degree days.  After dropping Emma off at Mountain Adventure, I caught up with Andrew, Gary and Kristin and headed up the gondola with low expectations.

To everyone's surprise we were greeted by clear blue, sunny skies at the top of the gondola.  We headed over to the Straightbrook Quad to check out the summit terrain.  Hawkeye, Lies, Open Pit and Hulaballoo had excellent coverage, but Lies turned out to be the place to be.  As temps soared into the 70's in the afternoon, it became a sea of soft spring bumps!

The day only got only better as Emma joined us for lunch on the sun deck of the base lodge and informed us that she had made her first ever runs down Hawkeye and Hulaballoo with her Mountain Adventure Class.

Turned out to be a beautiful Spring day!

Jaime, a non-skier, was all smiles because of the great weather.

Smiles all around!

Goodbye until 2012 - 2013!
